Ashford EV Charging Station Civil Works

Complete civil works package for a new EV charging station, from pre-cast substation and LV foundations through supply cable installation, drainage, kerbing, surfacing, fencing and landscaping.

The challenge

The works sat within a live retail car park, so customer access, parking and pedestrian routes had to be maintained throughout. The supply cable route crossed existing services and trafficked areas, and the programme was driven by fixed energisation and charger commissioning dates, with all finishes required to a public-facing standard.

Our approach

Works were phased so that only one area of the car park was closed at a time, with Heras fencing, barriers and clear signage keeping customers safely separated from the works. Trial holes and safe digging practice were used ahead of the supply cable excavation, and the pre-cast substation and LV foundations were installed under an agreed lift plan. Kerbing, tarmac surfacing, timber sleeper fencing and landscaping were completed by our own teams to keep quality and sequencing under direct control.

Outcome

Delivered on programme and within budget, with the site handed over ready for charger commissioning. Bays, kerbing and surfacing were completed to a high public-facing finish with no reportable incidents and no disruption to the operation of the site.
